BINGHAMTON, NY. – Andreas Englund scored his first American Hockey League goal in the Binghamton Senators 4-1 loss to the Rochester Americans on Saturday night.

Englund put the B-Sens on the board just two minutes into the first period. Kyle Flanagan sent a pass from the faceoff circle to Englund who was right outside the crease and put the puck past Rochester goaltender Linus Ullmark. Chris Rumble picked up his first AHL point with the secondary assist and the goal helped lead the B-Sens to the locker room up 1-0 after twenty minutes.

Rochester scored the lone two goals of the second period over the span of 1:16 to take the one-goal lead. Eric Cornel struck first for his second of the season with seven minutes remaining in the middle frame after Justin Kea won a faceoff in Binghamton’s zone. Brady Vail doubled the lead after receiving Kyle Bonis’ pass from behind the goal and lifted the puck up and over Matt O’Connor’s glove hand. Justin Vaive was credited with the secondary assist on Vail’s first goal of the year. Binghamton went to the final intermission trailing 2-1 while being out shot 13-8.

Former B-Sen Cole Schneider moved the score to 3-1 at the 8:01 mark of the final period after putting one past O’Connor from inside the blue line following Cal O’Reilly’s faceoff win. O’Reilly pushed the final score to 4-1 after getting assisted by Schneider on an empty net goal.

Matt O’Connor had 27 saves in the losing effort while Ullmark stopped 29 shots to get the win.
