Admin · 10 hrs · The league’s oldest rivalry renewed Friday night and Rochester hosted Hershey for the 461st matchup. It seemed like old-time hockey with 125 minutes in penalties handed out, but Rochester got a pair of goals from Michael Mersch, a goal and two assists from Jack Quinn and a four-assist effort from Peyton Krebs in a 7-3 blow-out victory while scoring four times in eight power play opportunities.
“I think they just got down early and got frustrated; it’s funny because they kept taking penalties and we scored our first three (goals) on the power play,” Mersch said. “They played an undisciplined game and we were able to do well on the power play.”
“What I really loved was how much we didn’t back down, how we fought for each other and stuck up for each because teams that do that have a chance to win,” Rochester head coach Seth Appert said.
Ryan MacInnis, Sean Malone, Mason Jobst and Mark Jankowski also tallied for Rochester, who next travel to Syracuse Saturday.
