Within minutes of the faceoff at Lincoln Arena Williamsville posted a goal on the scoreboard, then followed with a second. Kenmore/Grand Island answered back. Fans at that point could not have predicted what would happen as the game moved to the second period, ending the first 2-1 in Williamsville’s favor.

Williamsville opened with two in the second, then put up another ending that period 5-1 in their favor. Many said that was it; Williamsville was the winner.

Well, in the WNYGVIH League, its the unexpected that should be expected. Kenmore/Grand Island came out fast in the third and put up two goals quickly, then the third. Williamsville answered back. With little time left another from Kenmore/Grand Island–an unusual one where it looked as though Emily Belile had it, but the puck slipped under and behind her and Kenmore/Grand Island dropped it in.

Belile was making her varsity starting appearance and faced 27 shots on goal with 22 saves. Kenmore/Grand Island split goaltending duties with Juliet Chadima starting out and stopping 2 of 6 and Allison Hill coming in to stop 19 of 21.

The third ended 6-5 in favor of Williamsville.
