PURCHASE, N.Y. – Capping off a stellar final season with the Valiants, graduated senior Oscar Arfelt (Stockholm, Sweden/Connecticut Oilers (EHL)) became the 11th student-athlete in Manhattanville College history to earn Google Cloud CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-America honors after being named to the Third Team, the organization announced today, Wednesday, June 19. Arflet, who earned CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District accolades and First Team AHCA (America Hockey Coaches Association) All-America honors earlier in 2019, becomes just the second Manhattanville men’s hockey player to earn Academic All-America recognition since the program began in 1999-2000. He also joins former Valiant hockey player Anton Racklin as the only two Manhattanville student-athletes to earn both All-America and Academic All-America during their careers. The blueliner was a major contributor to the No. 13 team in the nation’s NCAA Quarterfinal run. Arfelt led all of Division III defensemen in points per game for the majority of the season and finished the year third overall. He also earned First Team All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) and United College Hockey Conference (UCHC). The at-large Academic All-America teams are selected from more than just hockey, with Arflet joining athletes from other men’s sports including fencing, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling. |
