WEST POINT, N.Y. – With the 2016-17 Army West Point hockey season on the horizon, the Boston Red Sox and the Atlantic Hockey Association have announced the addition of Army and Bentley to Frozen Fenway 2017.
Army and the Falcons will play in the Boston Red Sox’ frozen outdoor arena on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 7:30 p.m. The second game of their weekend series will be played on Friday, Jan. 6, at the John A. Ryan Skating Rink.
“It is very exciting for our hockey program to play at historic Fenway Park and on an outdoor stage,” said Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan. “For our players, coaches and fans to be a part of the deep hockey tradition of the Northeast will be one of the highlights of our season. It will be exciting to see the program return to its roots on an outdoor rink, which is how the Army hockey program started here on the banks of the Hudson.”
“It is a great opportunity for our cadet-athletes to play in historic Fenway Park,” said head coach Brian Riley. “We are excited to be part of Boston’s new winter tradition at Frozen Fenway. This will be an unbelievable experience for our team that they’ll always be able to look back on. We appreciate the league and Bentley for giving our program this incredible opportunity.”
