After helping the Canisius College hockey team secure a weekend sweep at Holy Cross, junior netminder Keegan Asmundson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) collected Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week honors, announced by the league on Tuesday.
Asmundson recorded 31 saves against the Crusaders in a 3-0 win on Saturday. The shutout was the first in his collegiate career and he also helped Canisius to its first sweep against Holy Cross since the 1999-00 campaign.
The Inver Grove Heights, Minn. native, who also earned Goaltender of the Week honors after a 4-1 win against No. 17 Denver in October, has appeared in seven games this season with a 2.37 goals against average and .936 save percentage. He currently ranks seventh nationally in save percentage in addition to 30th in goals against average.
In 13 career appearances, Asmundson owns a 2.08 goals against average and .941 save percentage.
Asmundson and the Griffs return to action this weekend with a home series against Sacred Heart. The schools are set to open the two-game set at the Buffalo State Sports Arena on Saturday at 3:05 p.m.
