WINTHROP, Mass. – Sophomore goaltender Brian Wilson has been named Goalie of the Month by Atlantic Hockey, as announced on Thursday. This follows his selection as the conference’s Goalie of the Week on Tuesday.
Wilson started his season with a very strong October. In his four games between the pipes, he has only allowed seven goals, fewest among the AHA’s qualifying goaltenders. Wilson also leads the conference in goals-against average (1.76) and save percentage (.942). His save percentage ranks 14th in the county while his goals-against average ranks 20th.
Wilson’s weekend at Air Force was highlighted by a 39-save shutout in Niagara’s 5-0 victory on October 25. It was his second career shutout and was just one save short of tying his all-time high. The following evening, Wilson stopped 32 shots in Niagara’s 2-1 loss to the Falcons.
The Purple Eagles (2-4-0, 2-2-0 AHA) are back on the road this weekend at conference foe Robert Morris. Puck drop for both games on Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3 will be at 7 p.m. These will be the final two games of the road trip before Niagara returns home to take on Holy Cross on Ovember 9 and 10.
