Brown, Kapcheck, Drackett, and Hunter Named Weekly Honorees
Atlantic Hockey has announced the most recent Travel Team USA Weekly Award winners. Making up the list this week are a pair of RIT Tigers, the reigning Rookie of the Year, and a Mercyhurst forward scoring his first collegiate goals.
Player of the Week
Erik Brown – RIT
Senior, Forward – Keene, ONT/Kemptville 73’s
Brown recorded his third career hat-trick and tied RIT’s Division I record for most goals in a career, as the Tigers defeated Colgate, 6-1, in front of 10,556 fans at Blue Cross Arena as part of Brick City Homecoming & Family Weekend Saturday night. Brown scored a goal in each period, giving him 55 for his career, tying him with Simon Lambert and Tyler Brenner for the DI lead at RIT. He now has 32 goals over his last 40 games.
Defensive Player of the Week
Brennan Kapcheck – AIC
Sophomore, Defense – Mt. Prospect, IL/Aston Rebels
Kapcheck had four assists in a 1-0-1 week for the Yellow Jackets, with two in each game against Bentley. The reigning Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Year also chipped in five blocked shots and finished plus-4 to lead AIC defensively.
Goalie of the Week
Logan Drackett – RIT
Sophomore, Goalie – Calgary, ALB/Calgary Canucks
Drackett tied his career-high with 41 saves and was named the game’s second star in RIT’s 6-1 win over Colgate in front of 10,556 fans at Blue Cross Arena as part of Brick City Homecoming & Family Weekend Saturday. Drackett was particularly sharp in the second period, stopping 19 shots including helping kill off two long Colgate 5-on-3 power-plays.
Rookie of the Week
Dalton Hunter – Mercyhurst
Freshman, Forward – Greensburg, PA/Dubuque Fighting Saints
Hunter netted his first two collegiate goals in his third career game as Mercyhurst earned a road split with Ferris State over the weekend with a 3-1 victory. Hunter scored the second and third goals, with his second goal standing up as the game-winning goal.
