ST. JOHN’S – The Binghamton Senators finished their season series against the St. John’s IceCaps with a 4-1 win at the Mile One Centre. Ryan Rupert led the B-Sens offensively with two goals while McCormick picked up two assists.
Following a scoreless first period, St. John’s broke the tie with Andrew Yogan’s fourth goal of the year just 1:21 into the middle frame. The B-Sens answered back over a minute later after Michael Keranen notched his first goal with the team off assists from Kyle Flanagan and Jason Akeson. Captain Zack Stortini pushed it to a 2-1 game when he put home his eighth goal of the season with Phil Varone and Casey Bailey picking up the assists. Binghamton took the one goal lead to the final intermission outshooting the host 11-10.
The B-Sens notched two goals over the final period to help cement the win. Rupert notched his first goal at the 9:34 mark after ripping a shot from the faceoff dot with the assists coming from Buddy Robinson. The game was sealed with 12 seconds remaining after Rupert pushed home the empty-net goal to make the final score 4-1.
Matt O’Connor picked up the win with 21 saves while Zachary Fucale had 25 stops in the losing effort.
