BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Before representing the United States of America at the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria, local athlete, John Williams, will be honored by the Binghamton Senators and drop the ceremonial faceoff prior to Saturday’s game against the Rochester Americans.
Williams currently resides in Berkshire, N.Y. and trains with the Newark Valley Special Olympics Adult Team. He started competing in Special Olympics in 2008 and now will be one of four athletes from Special Olympics New York heading to the World Winter Games to represent the United States of America.
New York State Trooper, Neil Case, is in charge of the Binghamton Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics will also drop the ceremonial faceoff alongside Williams. Trooper Case was selected to participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, carrying the Flame of Hope across the country.
Williams will compete in Cross Country Skiing while Special Olympics New York will compete in both Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing.

The B-Sens play a three-in-three weekend beginning tomorrow at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton before returning home on Saturday to face Rochester at 7:05 p.m. On Sunday, Binghamton is on the road in Springfield at 5:05 p.m.
