The Binghamton Senators failed to hold off their hosts, the Syracuse Crunch, as they fell 4-3 in overtime. Jeff Tambellini notched the game-winner with 1:30 to play in the sudden death frame to give the Crunch the win.
Binghamton jumped out to a 1-0 lead off of Danny Hobbs first goal of the season 3:13 into the opening period after a great feed from Buddy Robinson. Matthew Peca evened the score at one apiece a little past midway point when he beat the B-Sens Matt O’Connor over his glove hand for his third strike of the year. With less than a minute to play in the opening period, Tobias Lindberg wristed home his third of the year on a great stretch pass from Ryan Dzingel to give Binghamton the 2-1 lead going into the first intermission.
The B-Sens restored the two-goal lead with the lone goal of the middle frame when Robinson beat the Crunch’s Adam Wilcox shorthanded with less than five minutes to play in the period.
Syracuse’s power play thrived in the final period scoring twice to force overtime. First Joel Vermin knocked home his second of the year just 2:13 into the stanza before Tye McGinn wristed home his first of the season with less than eight minutes to play in regulation to force overtime.
Tambellini’s overtime game-winner dealt the B-Sens their first loss in only their second sudden death period this season. O’Connor stopped 18 of 22 shots faced in the losing effort while Wilcox corralled 33 of 36 faced to earn the win.
Saturday, November 14: Springfield 4, Binghamton 3

The Binghamton Senators fell 4-3 after the visiting Springfield Falcons rallied with three power-play strikes in the final frame.
Max McCormick opened the scoring with his first of two goals on the night 10:34 into the first period. Falcons’ netminder Nicklas Treutle made the initial save but, McCormick pushed the rebound in for his third goal of the year. Springfield evened the score just over a minute later after Greg Carey scored his first of two goals on the evening to send the teams to the first intermission tied 1-1.
The B-Sens increased the lead to 2-1 with their league-leading fifth shorthanded goal of the year 2:42 into the middle frame. Following a save by Chris Driedger, the puck took a fortuitous bounce for the B-Sens putting David Dziurzynski and McCormick on a short-handed 2-on-1 breakaway. Dziurzynski sent a great drop pass to McCormick who was trailing the rush and one-timed the puck past Treutle for his second score of the night. Binghamton took the 2-1 lead into the final break outshooting the Falcons 12-10 in the period.
Cole Schneider increased the B-Sens lead to 3-1 less than 30 seconds into the third with his team-leading seventh goal of the year off assist from Colin Greening and Patrick Mullen. Three straight power-play strikes from the visitors over eight minutes proved to be the difference maker. Carey notched his second of the night 2:51 into the period on the man advantage before Jordan Szwarz beat Driedger less than one minute later. Craig Cunningham wristed home the game winner with less than 10 minutes to play in regulation to give the visitors the 4-3 win.
Driedger stopped 30 of 34 shots faced while Treutle ended the night with 30 saves on 33 shots faced.

SENS SNIPPETS…
Forward Max McCormick has notched five points (three goals, two assists) in his last six games since being reassigned back to the B-Sens from the Ottawa Senators. McCormick, who was recalled from Binghamton to the NHL for the first time in his career on October 23, had totaled just one goal in his first four games with the B-Sens this year.
Forward David Dziurzynski, who is currently in his sixth season with the B-Sens, is enjoying the best start to his career having compiled four goals and nine total points putting him in a five-way tie for the team lead in points.
