DANBURY, Conn. – Following his first career multi-goal game, freshman forward Jeff Beck (Broomall, Pa./Philadelphia Junior Flyers (EHL)) of the Manhattanville College men’s hockey team was recognized as the ECAC West Conference Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced late on Monday afternoon.
Beck played a big role in the Valiants’ 4-3 win over Utica College on Saturday, scoring two of the team’s four goals for the first two-goal game of his young career. The freshman first gave Manhattanville the lead by scoring 60 seconds into the game, and then added the eventual game-winning goal with an empty-net tally late in the final frame.
With his two goals over the weekend, Beck is tied for the team lead with four goals, a total that leads all ECAC West freshmen and is tied for fifth in the conference overall.
Beck and the Valiants will travel north to Saratoga Springs for the Skidmore College Invitational this weekend, beginning with a matchup against #12/14 SUNY Potsdam on Saturday at 5 p.m.
