With last Wednesday’s 7-1 victory over Hamburg, the Bantam Minor team clinched the blue division. After finishing the first period tied at 1, the boys dug deep and pulled ahead to end the second frame ahead by 3. They added 3 more in the final period to seal the deal.
Not satisfied with their accomplishments, the team set their sights on finishing the season undefeated in league play. On Friday the boys put the finishing touch on the season with a 6-0 victory over the Bud Bakewell Bruins. Battling the elements, injuries, and a team that wouldn’t quit, the boys played one of their best games of the season by combining great defense, outstanding goal tending and balanced scoring.
“When we started out the season, we knew that we would be an improved team, but to sweep the league, that’s something we never imagined. The boys should really be proud of what they have accomplished this year.” said head coach Bob Conrad.
The Bantam Minor team continues to the playoffs on Friday the 22nd at Cheektowaga as the #1 seed.
