AMHERST, NY – With the first day of summer still two days away, things were heating up in the the Northtown Center’s Olympic Rink. The Buffalo Beauts were in the first day of their two-day free agent tryout camp with 38 players on the ice doing their best to impress the team’s coaching and administrative staff.

Six of the players on the ice have New York State connections. Those six include Chyne Kennedy (SUNY Oswego, DIII), Megan Reukauf (Buffalo State College, DIII), Maddie Norton (3 games with the Beauts last season), Taylor Ham (Manhattanville College, DIII), Rachel de Perio (Union College, DI) and Jordan Marchese (RIT, DI).

It should be noted that Reukauf, Norton and de Perio are all from the Western New York area, while Ham is from down state.

There are also seven goaltenders looking to gain a spot on the Beauts roster.

And according to Beauts GM, Nathaniel Oliver in a Facebook message, another hopeful, Marina Kobchuk, recently escaped from Ukraine and came to the United States to tryout with the Beauts. She is a past member of the Ukrainian Women’s National Team.

The camp will continue on Sunday at the Northtown Center.
