BOSTON, Mass. (November 17, 2018) — The Buffalo Beauts suffered a 4-1 defeat to the Boston Pride on Saturday at Warrior Ice Arena in Boston to fall to 2-3-0 on the season. The game was the first of four meetings between the teams this season and the first of a back-to-back series that concludes tomorrow night in Boston.

The game began with a busy first period for both goaltenders, as Katie Burt and Nicole Hensley combined to stop 20 of 21 shots in the period, including multiple scoring opportunities. Pride captain Jillian Dempsey was the first to break through, opening the scoring with 6:02 left in the first period by finishing off a back door rebound created by defenseman Lexi Bender.

In the second period, Boston defenseman Gigi Marvin created several scoring opportunities for herself and eventually capitalized, firing a one-timer past Hensley after a tic-tac-toe passing play from Denisa Krizova and McKenna Brand.

The Beauts were able to get on the board before the end of the middle frame, as Haley Scamurra scored her fourth goal of the season by capitalizing on a back door feed set up by teammate Sarah Edney.

Buffalo entered the third period within one goal but were unable to tie the game up. Dempsey scored her second of the night 6:40 into the period and Burt kept the Beauts off the board for the remainder of the game. Marvin sealed the deal by scoring her second of the night into an empty net.

The Beauts return to Warrior Ice Arena to face the Pride again on Sunday. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Eastern.
