Winners of six games in a row, the Buffalo Beauts have clinched the No. 2 seed in the NWHL’s Isobel Cup Playoffs and are set to host the first playoff date in their history.
The defending Isobel Cup champion Beauts will host the No. 3 seed in a single-elimination semifinal game on Saturday, March 17 at 5:30 p.m. at HarborCenter in Buffalo. Tickets are $20 and are available now at NWHL.zone/tickets.
The Beauts were acquired by Terry and Kim Pegula in December, in a move that furthered the Pegulas’ commitment to advancing the game of hockey on all levels. The Pegulas purchased the Buffalo Sabres in 2011 and opened HarborCenter in 2014.
The Beauts have not lost since their acquisition. On Saturday, they defeated the previously-undefeated Metropolitan Riveters 5-3 at HarborCenter.
“Being part of the Pegula Sports and Entertainment family and having the support of the Buffalo community has really helped us sharpen our focus and get fired up for the rest of the season,” said Beauts captain Corinne Buie. “Everyone on the team is stepping up and contributing, which is what we need going into the playoffs. The Buffalo fans have been so great to us. We’re so happy to get them a home game and grateful for their passionate support. As you can see on Saturday, the incredible turnout of fans gave us the extra boost of confidence to beat the Riveters. We are committed to defending the title and we have every intention of keeping the Isobel Cup in Buffalo. My teammates and I really hope you’ll pack the arena on March 17.”
