BINGHAMTON – The Binghamton Devils announced the team will be honoring the movie “Slap Shot” by becoming the Broome County Blades, a team depicted in the movie, on January 31 against Providence and February 1 against Rochester.
During Slap Shot weekend, the Devils will wear Broome County Blades specialty jerseys and fans will have the opportunity to meet Dave “Killer” Carlson (played by Jerry Houser) at the game. Following the match against Rochester, the jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds benefitting Sock Out Cancer.
“Sock Out Cancer is very pleased to partner again this year with the Binghamton Devils to help assist cancer patients in our area,” said Bruce Boyea, Chairman, President & CEO of Security Mutual Life Insurance Co. “All proceeds raised from the sale of the jerseys for the weekend will be split between the Foundations at Lourdes and UHS.”
