Senior goaltender Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs) of the RIT women’s hockey team, was named the College Hockey America Goaltender of the week on Monday, for the week ending Nov. 16, 2014. Binnington garnered her second weekly honor of the season and 13th of her career.
Binnington stopped 50-of-53 shots in a 1-1 weekend for the Tigers. On Friday, she became RIT’s all-time leader in saves and minutes played while stopping all 22 shots she faced for her 17th career shutout as RIT defeated Penn State, 3-0. On Saturday, she stopped 28-of-31 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss. Binnington is 5-4-1 this season with a 1.09 goals against average and .957 save percentage. She is second nationally in save percentage and third in goals against average.
RIT is right back in action on Friday and Saturday, with a pair of road games at No. 8 Mercyhurst from the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Friday’s game starts at 7 p.m., while Saturday’sgets underway at 2 p.m.
