New York, NY – July 24, 2015: The NWHL (National Women’s Hockey League) announced today the signing of two players to the Boston Pride, forward Kelly Cooke (Princeton University) and defenseman Marissa Gedman (Harvard University).

Kelly Cooke is from Andover, Massachusetts and played forward for the Princeton Tigers from 2009 to 2013, where she also served as the assistant captain. During her senior year, she finished second on her team in scoring with 27 points (15g, 12a).

During her junior year, Cooke appeared in all 31 games and was named Most Improved Player by her team. She was also named to the ECAC All-Academic Team all four years at Princeton.

In 2013, Cooke entered the CWHL Draft and was selected by the Boston Blades in the seventh round.

“I think that I’m fast so I like to play a fast game. I’m definitely a team player and I like to pass a lot. I try to be as defensive as possible and be a good backchecker,” said Cooke. “This season, I’m just going to try to be an all-around good teammate.”

Marissa Gedman attended Harvard University from 2010 to 2015 where she played defense and served as the team captain. The Framingham, Massachusetts native started her freshman year with 17 points (5g, 12a) and was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie team.

During her sophomore year with the Crimson, Gedman scored 27 points (8g, 19a), including an overtime, game-winning goal during the ECAC quarterfinal series against Princeton. During her time at Harvard, Gedman recorded 75 career points (19g, 56a) and was an Ivy League Honorable Mention honoree.

“I’m an aggressive defenseman with a heavy shot- I hope to bring smart defense to the team,” said Gedman. “I’m from Boston- being able to play out of Harvard, where I went to college, and be in the hub of hockey in Boston is awesome.”
