TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men’s hockey captain has been announced and senior defenseman Chris Bradley will wear the ‘C’ throughout the 2015-16 season. The announcement was made by 10th-year head coach Seth Appert.
“I am thilled to announce that Chris Bradley will serve our team as captain this year.” Appert said. “He’s earned this honor and represents all that our program stands for.”
A native of Williamsville, N.Y., Bradley has played in all five games this season and leads the team in both shots (14) and shots per game (2.8). He is second in blocked shots with 11 and has not taken a penalty.
Last season, Bradley played in 36 of the team’s 41 games, scoring four goals and adding four assists for eight points. He was assessed 10 minor penalties for 20 minutes and led the team with 50 blocked shots. As a sophomore the former Youngstown Phantoms standout played in 34 games, totaling three goals and nine assists for 12 points. He had a team-best +18 rating and took two penalties for four minutes, while blocking 30 shots.
Bradley has appeared in 110 games for Rensselaer heading into the weekend. He has recorded seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points.
RPI is 1-4 overall heading in ECAC Hockey play this weekend, when it will face Union College in a home-and-home series, beginning tonight at Messa Rink in Schenectady (7pm). The two teams face-off at the Houston Field Houst on Saturday (7pm).
