The second-to-last Travel Team USA weekly award winners for the 2017-18 season are Erik Brown of RIT and Alex Wilkinson of Army West Point.
Player of the Week
Erik Brown – RIT
Junior, Forward – Keene, ONT/Kemptville 73s
Brown enjoyed an incredible week, scoring eight goals, while adding an assist in leading RIT to a 2-1 mark. Monday, Brown recorded his first collegiate hat-trick, scoring a goal in each of the first three periods in a 6-5 overtime win over Mercyhurst. On Saturday, Brown tied Brad McGowan’s Division I team record by scoring four goals, including a natural hat-trick in the first 21 minutes as RIT cruised to a 5-0 win over Sacred Heart. Sunday, Brown scored a goal and added an assist in a 5-3 loss. He now has 12 points in his last five games (8-4-12) and has jumped to second in all of Division I with 25 goals.
Defensive Player of the Week
Alex Wilkinson – Army West Point
Sophomore, Defense – Raleigh, NC/CT Oilers
Wilkinson led the Black Knights with a four-point weekend, scoring two goals and adding two assists in a weekend split with Bentley. Wilkinson tallied two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in Friday’s 5-1 win against the Falcons. He then had an assist in Saturday’s defeat against Bentley. Wilkinson also played a major role on the penalty kill, holding Bentley to an 0-for-6 showing.
