Buffalo Beauts Earn Split With Montreal Force

AMHERST, NY – The Buffalo Beauts were able to split their weekend series of hockey games with the Montreal Force, earning a 3-2 win Sunday afternoon at the Northtown Center’s Feature Rink. It was the opening weekend of games for the two Premier Hockey Federation teams which saw the Beauts lose the day before to the Force, 5-4, in a game decided by a shootout.

Montreal tied the game, 2-2 at the 3:58 mark of the third period on a goal by Kristina Shanahan. But less than five minutes later Buffalo took the lead for good when Autumn MacDougall got a breakaway and scored at the 8:10 mark. The breakaway came from a long pass from teammate Anjelica Diffendal.

Interestingly, the Beauts only shot of the period came on the goal by MacDougall.

The Force cut the Beauts lead in half in the second period when Deziray De Sousa scored at 2:26. The Beauts outshot the Force in the period, 9-7.

The Beauts jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period. Whitney Dove opened the scoring for Buffalo with her second goal of the PHF season at 12:52.

Buffalo went on top 2-0 late in the first period on a goal by Allison Attea, the first goal of her Federation career. Attea assisted on the first Beauts goal of the game as well.

The Force outshot the Beauts in the period, 9-8.

BEAUTS NOTES – The Force outshot the Beauts for the game, 33-18; Beauts goaltender, Tera Hofmann, stopped 31 of 33 shots she faced; the three stars of the game were: 3rd star, the Beauts Allison Attea, who had a goal and assist and is a Buffalo native; 2nd star, Hofmann: 1st star, MacDougall, who had the game winning goal for Buffalo; the Beauts play again in two weeks when the travel to Connecticut to play a two-game weekend series against the Whale; the Beauts won’t return home to play until December 10 and 11when they play host to the Boston Pride.
