The Buffalo Regals of the Greater Ontario Junior B Hockey League today announced the addition of Geoff Peters to the Coaching Staff.
Geoff grew up playing his minor hockey in St Catharines, Ontario. He was eventually drafted by the Niagara Falls Thunder, 2nd overall the 1994 OHL Draft. After 2 years in Niagara Falls, Geoff was drafted in the 2nd round, 46th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1996 NHL draft. Geoff went on to play 10 years of professional hockey in the AHL, IHL, ECHL and the Canadian National Team Program, in which he won a Spangler Cup in 1998.
Geoff retired in 2009 and immediately took on a minor hockey coaching role in the Buffalo area with the Buffalo Regal 98’s. He’s been coaching on and off locally for the last 8 years, including going to the National Championships in 2015, 2017 and 18.
“We are very excited to bring in someone with Geoff’s credentials to our coaching staff” said Regals Head Coach Jamie Bird. “Geoff brings a valuable level of experience to our program and we look forward to his contribution to our program”.
Geoff is married, lives in Amherst and has a daughter (7), and a son (3).
