The Buffalo Regals of the Greater Ontario Junior B Hockey League today announced that the Cornerstone Arena in Lockport will be the new home of their Junior team.
“We are pleased to be able to bring a high quality level of Junior hockey to the Lockport community” stated Regals President Mike Answeeney. “The void left by the Express can now be filled by a top quality Junior hockey product. We will do our best to bring the people of Lockport a team they can be proud of”.
An agreement has been reached with the Cornerstone Arena to play home games on Wednesday evenings. There will also be a once monthly Saturday night game which will be themed to a special event.
“We look forward to having our players become a part of the Lockport Community by being involved in various Charitable events” stated Regals General Manager John Evoy. “We will definitely give back to this community through service” “We also hope to have a solid working relationship with the Lockport Youth Program and have our players assist with their learn to skate and other programs on and off the ice”
The Regals will conduct initial tryouts on June 2-3 and will follow up with a Main Tryout Camp sometime in early August. The regular season will begin the second week in September.
