BUFFALO, N.Y.— Anthony Passero (Fort Erie, ON/Lakeshore) scored twice and Michael Anthony Guerrera (Montreal, QC/Ontario Hockey Acad.) recorded three assists as Buffalo State opened up their season with a 4-3 win over visiting non-conference opponent Nichols this afternoon at the Buffalo State College Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Nichols opened the game with two goals within the first six minutes of action.
Buffalo State got on the board with 10 minutes remaining in the first period when Zach Nieminen (Ajax, ON/Notre Dame CSS) found the back of the net off the assists from Reid Bibb (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg) and Guerrera.
The Bengals added another goal just 30 seconds into the second period when Hugo Petit (Chelsea, QC/CIH Academy) drove on a breakaway, past the defender and pushed it past the goalie to even the score. Guerrera and Mac Wood (Simcoe, ON/SCS) picked up assists on the play.
Buffalo State added a third goal 9:00 into the second period, when Passero collected a rebound off his initial shot and buried it into the back off the net. Zach Remers (Clarence, NY/Canisius) added an assist.
Passero added his second goal of the game, which turned out to be the game-winner, with less than two minutes left in the second period. Guerrera picked up the assist.
Ian Sylves (Sloan, NY/John F. Kennedy) recorded 14 saves in the net for the Bengals.

Colin Brennan recorded 21 saves in the loss for the Bison.
