CORTLAND, N.Y.—Buffalo State swept the SUNYAC Men’s Ice Hockey weekly awards after its impressive two-win performance over the weekend, with Zach Remers (Clarence, NY/Canisius) earning Player of the Week honors, Emil Norrman (Kungsbacka, Sweden/Jensen) taking Goalie of the Week, and Nikita Kozyrev (Tallinn, Estonia) claiming Rookie honors.
Remers, a senior biochemistry major, tallied four points in the two games, including scoring the game-winning goal in Friday’s 4-2 win against nationally No. 2 ranked Geneseo and tallying two goals and an assist in Saturday’s 3-0 victory at Brockport. Remers leads the Bengals with six goals in six games this season, which is good for third-best in the SUNYAC.
Norrman, a freshman business major had a 39-save showing in the 4-2 home victory Geneseo and followed that performance with his first collegiate shutout on Saturday, making 31 stops in the 3-0 win at Brockport. He had a .972 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average in the two games.
Kozyrev, a freshman forward studying business, also had a four-point weekend. He netted a goal and had two assists in the win over Geneseo and then added another assist in the Brockport victory.
Buffalo State will compete in the Skidmore Invitational next weekend, opening against Tufts on Saturday at 5 p.m.
