BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State scored a pair of goals less than two minutes apart in the third period to register a key ECAC West victory over visiting Oswego, 3-1, today at the Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Nikki Kirchberger (Buffalo, NY/W. Seneca West) had a goal and an assist, and Rachel Lenard (Orchard Park, NY/Nardin), and Christine Harris (Mountain Top, PA/Wyoming Seminary) also scored for Buffalo State, while Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) finished with 27 saves in goal for the win.
Lenard, who transferred from Oswego between semesters, opened the scoring for Buffalo State just 4:34 into the game, deflecting a point shot from Viivi Vaattovaara (Veikkola, Finland) to the back of the net.
The Lakers controlled play in the second period and finally evened the score at 1-1 on their 23rd shot of the game with just over four minutes remaining in the middle frame.
Harris broke the tie with 6:38 remaining in the final stanza on a one-timer off of a nice feed by Bri Carroll (Peoria, AZ/Virtual Academy) from behind the net.
Kirchberger completed the scoring just 1:31 later with a quick shot inside the post for her eighth goals of the season.
Oswego finished with a 28-23 advantage in shots.
Buffalo State was 1 for 3 on the power play, while the Lakers were 0 for 4.
FOR THE FOES
Lydia Cosgrove scored her first goal of the season for Oswego, and Mariah Madrigal made 20 stops in goal.
