Buffalo State’s Goodwin, Silva Draw All-ECAC West Hockey Honors

DANBURY, Conn.—Buffalo State’s Kara Goodwin (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake) and Justine Silva (El Monte, CA/Arroyo) were each named to the All-ECAC West Women’s Hockey team, with Goodwin garnering second team honors, while Silva was named to the third team and to the All-Rookie team.

Goodwin, a senior public communication major, leads the Bengals with 20 goal and 26 points in 25 games this season. She ranks second in school history with 59 career points, and is also second with 42 career goals. Her 20 goals this season also ranks second in school history for goals in a year.

Silva, a freshman goalie majoring in forensic chemistry, has appeared in 23 of 25 games this season and has a 2.71 goals against average to go with a .900 save percentage. She has been between the pipes for nine of the team’s 10 wins, including all eight league victories which set a new school record for conference wins in a season.

Buffalo State (10-12-3/8-9-1) will enter the ECAC West playoffs as the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 Utica for a quarterfinal matchup on Saturday at 7 p.m.
