Buffalo State’s Rachel Lenard (Orchard Park, NY/Nardin) and Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) were named the Northeast Women’s Hockey League (NEWHL) Player and Goalie of the Week respectively after helping the Bengals clinch a playoff berth this past weekend with a pair of wins against Oswego.

Lenard, a senior English education major, tallied three goals in the two victories over her former team. She scored twice in Friday’s 4-1 win and added another goal in a 2-0 victory on Saturday. Lenard now leads the Bengals with 15 points on seven goals and eight assists in 21 games this season.

Silva is the NEWHL Goalie of the Week for the second-consecutive week. The senior forensic chemistry and biotechnology major allowed just one goal on 47 shots for a 0.50 goals against average and a .979 save percentage. Silva made 17 saves in the 4-1 win and then had 29 stops for her 10th career shutout in Saturday’s 2-0 victory.

Buffalo State hosts its final two home regular season games this weekend against Cortland on Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m.
