Ian Sylves (Sloan, NY/JFK) was named the SUNYAC Men’s Hockey Goalie of the Week after his performance in a two-game set over Elmira this past weekend.
The economics and finance graduate student set a school record for shutouts in a season, making 25 stops for his fourth of the year in a 4-0 home win over Elmira on Friday. He also turned aside 37 of 40 shots in a 3-2 loss at the Soaring Eagles on Saturday. For the week, Sylves had a .954 save percentage and a 1.52 GAA.
Sylves leads the SUNYAC in both goals against average (1.56) and save percentage (.941) this season.
Buffalo State returns to SUNYAC play this Friday with a home contest against Geneseo at 7 p.m.
