Freshman forward Alysha Burriss was named CHA Rookie of the Week on Monday after her two-goal performance in Friday’s 4-1 win over RIT which clinched the No. 2 seed in the CHA Tournament for the Orange.
Burriss, who has won the award twice and Player of the Week once this season already, tallied first and third period goals against the Tigers, and nearly missed her second hat trick of the season vs. RIT after Ali Binnington’s right pad thwarted her breakaway opportunity.
It’s also the second week in a row ‘Cuse has picked up the award, with Stephanie Grossi taking the honor last week.
The Orange open postseason play in the CHA Semifinals on Friday, March 6 against the highest remaining seed after this weekend’s opening rounds in Erie, Pa.
