After netting a hat trick in a come-from-behind victory against Army on Friday, juniorRalph Cuddemi (Concord, Ontario) of the Canisius College hockey team was honored with Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week accolades, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
In the Griffs’ 6-4 win over the Black Knights, Cuddemi scored a career-best three goals to help Canisius rally from down three. With the team trailing 4-1 late in the second period, the junior netted two power-play goals to pull within one. He then added an empty-net goal to secure the come-from-behind win and record the 16th hat trick in program history.
Overall, Cuddemi leads the team with three goals in four games this season. During his two-plus years with the Griffs, he has totaled 45 points, 22 goals and 23 assists, including a team-best 15 tallies as a sophomore. Cuddemi received Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career, while he was a two-time Rookie of the Week during the 2012-13 campaign.
Cuddemi and the Griffs are back in action on Friday, beginning at two-game series at AIC. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
