Helping lead the Canisius College hockey team to its longest regular-season unbeaten streak in 14 years, senior netminder Keegan Asmundson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) was named Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Month, announced by the conference on Wednesday.

Asmundson posted a 1.70 goals against average and .941 save percentage in seven January contests, registering a 5-1-1 record. He anchored the team’s seven-game unbeaten streak to end the month – the longest for the program in the regular season since the 2000-01 campaign. The highlight of the month was a shutout of Bentley on Jan. 17 – keeping one of the top-scoring offenses without a goal for his first clean sheet of the season.

Overall, Asmundson owns a 7-5-4 record, 2.32 goals against average and .920 save percentage during his senior campaign. A three-time Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week during his career, this is the first monthly honor for Asmundson.

Asmundson and the Griffs are set to put the nation’s longest unbeaten streak on the line this weekend as the top two teams in the Atlantic Hockey standings meet. First-place Robert Morris hosts second-place Canisius on Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
