Senior forward Ralph Cuddemi (Concord, Ontario) of the Canisius College hockey team was named to the All-Atlantic Hockey Preseason All-Star Team on Friday, announced by the league’s media association. In addition, the Griffs were selected fourth as a team.

An All-Atlantic Hockey Second Team selection a season ago, Cuddemi led the Griffs with 39 points, 22 goals and eight power-play tallies. He finished his junior campaign ranked eighth nationally in power-play goals, 10th in goals and 33rd in points.

Overall, Cuddemi has appeared in 115 career games with 81 points, 41 goals and 40 assists. He enters his senior campaign just 19 points shy of becoming the ninth player in the program’s Division I history with 100 in his career, while his 41 goals are within striking distance of the team’s all-time mark of 62, set by Cory Conacher (2007-11).

As a team, Canisius earned 96 points in the 12-person poll, including one first-place vote. Robert Morris was picked first with 127 points, followed by RIT (117) and Bentley (104). Holy Cross (71), Sacred Heart (63), Mercyhurst (62), Air Force (56), Niagara (43), Army West Point (34) and AIC (19) trailed the Griffs in the annual poll.

Canisius returns 13 letterwinners from a team that matched its best Atlantic Hockey finish in school history last season. The Griffs open the 2015-16 regular season with a home game against Penn State at HARBORCENTER on Oct. 10.
