Utica, NY – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has recalled forward Joseph LaBate and defenseman Jordan Subban from the Utica Comets. In a separate transaction, Utica Comets Director of Hockey Operations Pat Conacher has announced that the club has signed defenseman Alex Wall to a professional tryout contract.
LaBate, 23, has appeared in 25 games for the Comets this season registering nine points (2-7-9) and 55 penalty minutes. The 6-5, 208-pound forward made his NHL debut with the Canucks this season playing three games and recording seven penalty minutes. A native of Eagan, Minnesota, LaBate was selected by Vancouver in the fourth round, 101st overall, at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Subban, 21, has appeared in 46 games with Utica this season where he currently leads defensemen in goals (13), and points (29) and ranks second in assists (16). Subban also leads the team in powerplay goals (eight) and ranks fourth in shots (111). A native of Rexdale, Ontario, Subban was selected by Vancouver in the fourth round, 115th overall, at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Wall, 26, has dressed in 49 games in the ECHL this season with the Adirondack Thunder where he currently leads the team in assists (30) and leads defensemen in points (34). The St. John’s, Newfoundland native has skated with the Comets in one game this year, posting one shot and a plus-one rating.
