Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have reassigned and recalled goaltender Jacob Markstrom, forward Ronalds Kenins and defenseman Adam Clendening from the Utica Comets. The club has also reassigned defenseman Alex Biega to Utica.
Markstrom, 25, has compiled a record of 17-7-2 including four shutouts with the Utica Comets this season. In 47 NHL games, the 6’6”, 199 pound goaltender has a record of 12-27-5 with a 3.19 goals against average. The Gavle, SWE, native was originally selected by Florida 31st overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Kenins, 24, has appeared in 14 games with the Canucks this season registering 10 points (3-7-10) and four penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 36 games with the Comets this season, collecting 12 points (5-7-12) and 23 penalty minutes. The 6’0”, 209-pound native of Riga, Latvia was signed as a free agent on July 30, 2013.
Clendening, 22, has appeared in 14 games with the Canucks this season registering two assists (0-2-2) and eight penalty minutes. He also appeared in 4 games with the Blackhawks collecting two points (1-1-2) and 38 games with the Rockford IceHogs, tallying 13 points (1-12-13) and 20 penalty minutes. The 5’11”, 190-pound native of Niagara Falls, NY was acquired from Chicago in exchange for Gustav Forsling on January 29, 2015.
Biega, 26, has appeared in seven games with the Canucks this season, registering one goal (1-0-1). He has also appeared in 42 games with Utica this season, collecting 15 points (3-12-15) and 16 penalty minutes. The 5’10” 193-pound native of Montreal, QC was signed as a free agent on July 5, 2013.
