Four New Yorkers were named to the 2014 U.S.A Women’s Under-22 Select TEam that will compete in a three-game series against Canada this week in Calgary at Canada Olympic Park.
Miye D’Oench, New York; Maddie Elia, Lewiston; Dana Trivigno, Setauket and Emily Pfalzer, Getzville were chosen following the USA Hockey Women’s National Festival held in Lake Placid this past week.
In all twenty-two players were selected for the team which features three players who helped the 2014 U.S. Women’s Olympic Ice Hockey Team earn a silver medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. They are Alex Carpenter (North Reading, Mass.), Michelle Picard (Taunton, Mass.) and Lee Stecklein (Roseville, Minn.).
The team heads to Calgary on Tuesday and will play their first game on Thursday (August 21) at 6:30 p.m. They will then play Friday and Saturday.
The 22-player roster (seven defensemen, 13 forwards and two goaltenders) and staff listing is availablehere. The 22 players represent 12 different states. Minnesota and New York lead the pack with four representatives each, while Michigan and Massachusetts each have three. California, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin each have one representative. This year’s roster will include two players who are 22-years old at the time of the series.
