College Hockey America has announced its weekly award winners for the week ended October 8, 2017. Taking home this week’s awards are Brittany Howard, Daniela Paniccia, and Jessi O’Leary.

Player of the Week

Brittany Howard – Robert Morris
Senior, Forward – Burlington, ONT/London Jr. Devilettes

Brittany Howard had a four-goal, six-point weekend as Robert Morris picked up a road sweep at Minnesota State. She scored the game-winning, overtime goal 40 seconds into the extra period on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, she tallied five points, including a natural hat trick in a 6-2 victory. Her second assist was a milestone one as it made Howard the all-time leading scorer in Robert Morris history with 138 points in 109 games.

Goalie of the Week

Daniela Paniccia – Penn State
Sophomore, Goalie – Oakville, ONT/St. Ignatius of Loyola

Paniccia made an appearance in both games of Penn State’s series against Union, including starting Sunday’s 1-1 tie against the Dutchwomen. She played 85 total minutes in net, coming in for the third period of a 3-1 win on Friday. Paniccia then made 20 saves and allowed one goal as Penn State tied Union on Saturday. For the weekend, Paniccia had a 0.71 goals against average and a 0.960 save percentage.

Rookie of the Week

Jessi O’Leary – RIT
Freshman, Goalie – Woodstock, NB/Athol Murray of Notre Dame

O’Leary made her first two collegiate starts last weekend at Holy Cross. She went 1-0-1 with 53 saves on 57 shots faced. She made 26 saves in her debut, a 2-2 tie against Holy Cross. Then, on Saturday, she made 27 saves in a 3-2 victory. Overall, O’Leary had a 1.92 goals against average and a 0.930 save percentage.
