ALBANY, N.Y. – Two members of the Union College men’s hockey program have been honored by ECAC Hockey. Senior forward Daniel Ciampini was named Player of the Week and freshman forward Ryan Scarfo chosen Rookie of the Week in voting conducted by league coaches.
Ciampini scored game-winning goals on consecutive nights as Union completed a road sweep of Brown (Dec. 5) and Yale (Dec. 6). He finished with four points (three goals, assist) on the weekend, highlighted by a two-goal performance in a 3-1 win over Yale in a matchup of the NCAA’s last two champions.
Scarfo recorded assists both nights (assisting on Ciampini’s game-winnerSaturday) and finished with a plus-2 along with seven faceoff wins in helping Union jump three spots in the league standings.
Union (9-6-1) is off until Dec. 27 when it meets UConn at the Frozen Holiday Classic.
