ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior forward Daniel Ciampini of the Union College hockey team has been named ECAC Hockey Player of the Month for January. It marks back-to-back ECACH monthly awards for Ciampini, who has been honored three times during his career.

A Hobey Baker candidate, Ciampini led all ECACH players with 18 points (11 goals, 7 assists) in eight games. He paced the country in goals and shared top honors for points, in addition to being the only player to record a hat trick during the month.

Ciampini’s January highlights included an NCAA season-high six-point effort (3-3) against Rensselaer in the Mayor’s Cup – which tied a school record for points in game – and surpassing the 100-point mark in career scoring. He also scored a short-handed goal in a 3-3 overtime tie against No.1-ranked Boston U. and produced four points (2-2) in a 5-4 win at No. 4 Harvard.

By averaging 2.25 points per game in January, Ciampini has become the NCAA’s leading goal scorer (22) and points producer (41).
