Senior Troy Josephs enjoyed a two-goal night and freshman Jake Kielly came through with another solid effort in goal to lead the Clarkson University Hockey team to a 4-2 win over Dartmouth in ECAC Hockey action before 2,407 fans at Cheel Arena on Friday night.

Unbeaten in its last eight games, including six wins, the Golden Knights stand at 9-5-3 overall and post a 5-1-1 ECAC Hockey mark. Clarkson hosts 8th-ranked Harvard on Saturday in its last game in Potsdam until late January.

Dartmouth (3-4-2, 1-2-2) held a slim 28-26 advantage in shots, but the Green and Gold had the upper hand in specialty teams play. Clarkson was 2-of-4 on the power play and killed off all four of the Big Green man-advantage opportunities.

Kielly, who was named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Month for November, made 26 saves, including 11 in the second period, to extend his current unbeaten streak in the Clarkson crease to seven games (5-0-2).

Josephs has now tallied five goals and three assists over the past eight games. He has 12 points (7-5) on the year.

For the seventh straight game, the Knights got on the scoreboard first, and took a 2-0 lead late in the first period.

Clarkson’s leading scorer, freshman Devin Brosseau found a loose puck in the slot and fired in a wrist shot high over the stick-side shoulder of Big Green goaltender Devin Buffalo for an unassisted power-play marker, his fifth score of the season, to give the Green and Gold the early lead at 7:18.

Josephs made it 2-0 when he connected off a soft pass from classmate Jordan Boucher on a 2-on-1 rush at 15:33. Senior Sam Vigneault started the play with a pass from behind the Clarkson goal to Boucher in the neutral zone.

Dartmouth came right back 37 seconds later with a goal by Daniel Warpecha to make it a one-goal game entering the first intermission.

Josephs put Clarkson back on top by two midway through the second stanza. While on a power play senior defenseman James de Haas fired a shot on net from the blueline. Dartmouth’s Buffalo made the stop, but the puck fell at the top of the crease where Josephs tapped in a shot at 11:11 for his seventh goal of the season. Boucher also assisted.

At 2:12 of the final frame, the Big Green pull to within one again, scoring during a 4-on-4 situation on Corey Kalk’s third goal of the season.

Clarkson padded the lead, however, when junior Nic Pierog slipped in a shot in close off a rebound on a shot by freshman defenseman at 13:46 to make it a 4-2 game.

The Big Green pulled their goaltender with 3:04 remaining, but the Knights controlled play in the final minutes of regulation to gain their fourth home win of the season.
