– Peterson doubled the Colgate margin to 2-0 on a shorthanded goal with 14:39 elapsed in the opening frame. Junior Kevin Lough began the play by dumping the puck into the right corner of the Princeton zone, where junior Darcy Murphy collected the puck and made a cross-ice pass to Peterson, who fired it short side for his third goal of the season.
– Spink doubled the Raiders cushion to 4-0 with a pair of goals less than three minutes apart in the second period. His first goal came at the 15:53 mark of the middle frame when junior Kyle Baun found Spink alone in the slot, where he placed a wrist shot off the crossbar and into the net for the power play goal. Sophomore Tim Harrison earned a secondary assist on the play.
– Spink notched his second goal of the period just 2:26 later as Baun once again connected with Spink in the slot. Spink once again got the best of Princeton goaltender Colton Phinney, tucking a wrist shot inside the left post to expand the Raiders margin to 4-0. Freshman Mike Panowyk picked up an assist on the play.
– Senior Spiro Goulakos expanded the Colgate margin to 5-0 just 2:13 into the third period, snapping a shot over Phinney’s glove from the left faceoff circle for his first goal of the season. Baun and senior John Lidgett were credited with assists on the play.
– Princeton broke up Finn’s shutout bid with just four seconds remaining in the contest as Jonathan Liau tallied a power play goal to determine the final 5-1 margin.

Quotable
Colgate head coach Don Vaughan
(On game)
“We had great energy from the start tonight. We talked about it today. We knew we weren’t on our game last night. We wanted a good start and we got one. I was really pleased with our effort from the opening faceoff.”

(On Jake Kulevich‘s goal)
“Jake is a very popular guy on the team and the guys are really behind him. When he scored that goal, it elevated our energy even more. I’m happy for him to get his first goal.”

(On lineup changes)
“We know we have some depth, thankfully, because we have some really good players out of our lineup right now. The guys that haven’t been in the lineup consistently have continued to work hard. They’re staying on after practice and they’re working with Mike (Harder) and Jason (Lefevre) on extra stuff. The key is that they’re ready when given the chance and they did that tonight. Some of the changes were due to of injury, but some of it is because they deserve to play based on the way we did not compete last night, so you give them an opportunity. I really thought they gave us a real jolt of energy. I thought Brooks (Herrington) played really well as did Emilio (Audi). They brought some energy for us tonight and they’re great teammates. I’m happy for them.”

(On facing former players and Princeton coaches Ron Fogarty and Brad Dexter)
“It’s odd. Both are very good friends. They played for me and worked for me. Brad (Dexter) has his fingerprints all over this current team, so it’s probably a little bittersweet for him tonight. They’re good friends, but for 60 minutes, it’s a battle. You’ve got to go out and compete and try to win a game, regardless of who is on the other bench. I wish them well. They’re going to do a great job here.”

Sophomore Jake Kulevich
(On scoring first collegiate goal)
“It definitely felt good. It was a great win by Evan (Peterson) off the draw. I had an angle and I was able to bury it. It was a good way to get started.”

(On team’s performance)
“We knew that last night wasn’t our game and we had to come out flying tonight and I think we did that. We had a really good first period to set the tone. That’s been the motto of the team both this season and last is resetting after a tough loss or even a good win and coming out and playing our game the next night.”
