ROCHESTER, N.Y. –Senior Darcy Murphy scored the game-winning goal with 1:28 remaining in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and lift Colgate to a 4-3 victory over RIT Saturday at the Gene Polisseni Center.

Murphy’s decisive tally highlighted a back-and-fourth third that saw the Tigers tie the game twice before the Marysville, Ont., product registered his first goal of the season to help the Raiders complete the sweep of the home-and-home series.

The line of Murphy, senior Mike Borkowski and sophomore Mike Panowyk led the way offensively for the Raiders, finishing with seven points in the contest. The senior duo tallied a goal and assist each while Panowyk chipped in a career-high three helpers.

Junior goaltender Charlie Finn turned in another solid performance between the pipes for Colgate, matching his career high with 43 saves. Mike Rotolo tallied 23 stops in net for the Tigers.

After a scoreless first period, Colgate took a 2-1 lead into third on the strength of second-period tallies from juniors Tim Harrison and Brett Corkey.

RIT tied the game at 2-2 just 62 seconds into the third with an even-strength goal from Greg Amlong, but senior Mike Borkowski restored the Raiders’ one-goal advantage midway through the frame with his team-leading fifth goal of the campaign.

The Tigers knotted the score at 3-3 a little more than four minutes after Borkowski’s strike when Myles Powell notched his first goal of the season with 4:09 remaining, setting up Murphy’s late-game heroics.
