HAMILTON – The Colgate women’s hockey program has announced its leadership squad in Malia SchneiderRosy DemersTaylor Kirwan, and Danielle Serdachny as captains for the 2021-22 campaign.

For 2021-22, the four captains are slated to lead a squad of 16 returners from the 2020-21 campaign, that includes eight newcomers and a six-player senior class.

Malia Schneider returns for a fifth season with the Raiders and her third as a member of the captain squad. After serving as an alternate as a junior, she received full captain status as a senior in 2020-21. Schneider currently holds 97 career points through her 140 games played, including 51 goals and 46 assists. The native of Millarville, Alberta was most recently honored on the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team and Raider Academic Honor Roll as a sociology and theater double-major.

Senior Rosy Demers joins Schneider on the squad of captains as a psychological and brain sciences major. A native of Blainville, Quebec, Demers most recently posted 14 points by three goals and 11 assists in the 2020-21 campaign, totaling 48 points in her 97-game career. An ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team member, Demers notched an assist in the first seven games of the season for a career-long point streak.

An educational studies and writing double-major, Taylor Kirwan enters her senior season holding 25 career points. The Gull Lake, Saskatchewan native most recently led the Raiders with her plus-18 rating on the ice while recording five points in the 2020-21 campaign. Just as effective off the ice, Kirwan was honored as an AHCA/Krampade Academic All-Star for maintaining above a 3.60 GPA and on the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team.

Danielle Serdachny joins the captain squad as a junior, coming off of an outstanding sophomore season. Behind a team-leading 21 points with nine goals and 12 assists, the Edmonton, Alberta native was named a CCM/AHCA First Team All-American for her efforts in the 2020-21 season’s 23 games. In addition to the first All-American honor for Colgate in the Division I era, Serdachny added an ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, ECAC Hockey Best Forward, and First Team All-League honor. As an economics major, Serdachny has been a two-time ECAC All-Academic Team member and currently holds 53 career points through her 61 games played.
