ALBANY, N.Y. – Nationally ranked No. 8/8 Colgate women’s ice hockey sophomore goaltender Liz Auby (Stoughton, Wisconsin) has been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league off on Tuesday afternoon.
Auby is coming off a historic weekend for the Raiders as she led Colgate to back-to-back shutouts against St. Cloud State to open the season for the first time in program history. Colgate women’s ice hockey is also the first ECAC Hockey team to achieve the feat since Quinnipiac opened the 2014-15 season with 3-0 shutouts of UConn and Penn St.
With her back-to-back shutouts, Auby now has three straight shutouts in her career and a consecutive shutout minutes streak of 200:19 which are both good for Division I program records. Next up on Auby’s list is Jen Burtaw’s shutout minutes streak of 231:24 from the 1999-2000 season, before the program entered the Division I level.
Auby needed to make just 24 saves for her back-to-back shutouts, the only goaltender in the country to record as many shutouts this past weekend. She is now second in the nation in shutouts behind Wisconsin’s Kristen Campbell who has three.
The Raiders return to the ice this weekend in a top 10 matchup as they host the nationally ranked No. 6/5 Northeastern Huskies on Saturday at 6 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. showdown on Sunday.
