ALBANY, N.Y. – No. 19 Colgate men’s ice hockey freshman defenseman Nick Austin (St. Louis Park, Minnesota) has been named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Austin’s rookie of the week honors are his second of the season after earning the honor in the first week of awards on Oct. 10.
This past weekend was one of the best in Austin’s young career after tallying four points on two goals and two assists. Austin came into the weekend with six points on the season and became the Raiders’ first rookie to reach 10 points this season.
Austin’s pair of two-point games gives him four multiple-point games this season, tied with John Snodgrass (Eagan, Minnesota) for the second most on the roster.
Austin was tied for the national lead among rookies this weekend with two goals and was tied for second with four points. He was also tied for the national lead as one of three players to average two points per game in two games.
This season, Austin is tied for third among ECAC Hockey rookies with five goals and is tied for sixth with 10 points. Austin is also tied for sixth among league rookies with 20 blocked shots.
