Colgate’s Point Tabbed ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week

HAMILTON – Colgate men’s ice hockey sophomore goaltender Colton Point (North Bay, Ontario) has been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

The league has honored point with a weekly award for the first time in his career.

Point is coming off another fantastic week between the pipes for the Raiders where he went unbeaten against the Arizona State Sun Devils and recorded his first career shutout on Oct. 27.

In the two-game series with the Sun Devils, Point allowed just one goal and led all ECAC Hockey goaltenders that played in two games with a 0.48 GAA and .976 save percentage. He also ranked third in nation in each category for his stellar weekend performance.

Point extended his unbeaten streak to six games to close out the month as he went 3-0-3. The Raiders’ netminder led all goaltenders in the country with a .955 save percentage and 1.28 GAA. Point made 170 saves and allowed just eight goals in the month.

The Raiders open up ECAC Hockey play this weekend as they hit the road to face Princeton Friday at 7 p.m. before taking on No. 11/12 Quinnipiac Saturday night.
