NYHOL congratulates the ladies of the Western New York Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Class of 2019. We are providing as much information as we have available at the time of this publication. First up from Clarence/Amherst/SweetHome:
Emma Faso played 4 years at Clarence. Plans to play hockey at Plattsburg State College and major fin criminal justice Chloe Esch played 4 years at CASH and plans to study biology. Charleigh Rondeau is a six-year CASH hockey player who plans to attend Slippery Rock where she will play lacrosse Caroline Yoder will attend St. Bonaventure and play lacrosse. She played for CASH for three years Anna Ablove is a three year member of CASH and will attend the University of Michigan for engineering physics. Amanda Freiheit played four years for CASH and will attend ECC for criminal justice. Kylie Nelson is a six year CASH player who will play lacross at Greenville University.
Frontier/LakeShore/Orchard Park
Tori Cottrell will attend Buffalo State College where she will continue in net and study early childhood education. Maggie Spyche plans to study biomedical engineering and then go on to medical school. She may continue her hockey career. Jessica Peters will study nursing. This top scorer has played since 7th grade. Abigail Lillis will play hockey with the Utica College Pioneers and study criminal justice.
Hamburg/Eden/West Seneca
Sissy Harman played five years of varsity hockey and served as an assistant captain. She plans to play DIII hockety at Morrisville College where she will study nursing. Kaitlyn Morris played four years of varsity, served as co-captain and plans to study finance and play lacrosse.
Kenmore/Grand Island
Jaclyn MacVittie played 5 years of varsity hockey and is off to play for Penn State and is enrolled i Pre-Medical Hannah Munley, who has been injured this season, played six years and is making a choice between St. Bonaventure and Penn State Emma Epstein played four years and is headed to Miami University of Ohio Chloe Moore served as Captain and played for six years. She will be playing volleyball at Plattsburgh State College.
Lancaster/Iroquois/Depew (We apologize but we were unable to get names or numbers to id the girls)
Anna Pitz plans to study environmental engineering Madelyn Moran will attend D’Youville College for Nursing. Morgan Zaccarine will attend Malone University in their Nursing program Jeanette Szefler will attend Mercyhurst and study Intelligence Studies. Jillian Blas, served as Captain. She will be attending Mercyhurst College in Sports Medicine. Alexis Missel will study Nursing at Trocaire.
Niagara County (Starpoint and Niagara Wheatfield Central Schools) Their first year as a varsity team in the WNYGVIH League. All four girls shared the Captain duties.
Sarah Jackson is from NW and serves as a Captain. She displays great skill and playmaking abilities and has been a catalyst for the offense. Her calm demeanor helps settle the team when things start to break down. Paige Keelty is a hardworking forward who has shown great leadership. She is also a Captain. Jordan Pearson is also from Starpoint and is one of the outspoken leaders on and off the ice. She has a great attitude and is a rock on the back end leading a group of very young defensemen. Julia Gerspach is from NW and is hard working, outspoken and shows leadership off and on the ice. She is a strong two way forward.
Monsignor Martin, made up of players from Mt. St. Mary’s, Cardinal O’Hara, Nardin, Sacred Heart, St. Mary’s Lancaster, Buffalo Seminary and Mt. Mercy.
Marci Rodgers is a three year player planning to attend SUNY Buffalo, Kettering or Grand Valley State to play club hockey and study mechanical engineering technology. MacKenzie Blake played four years for MM and is planning to attend SUNY Cortland, St. John Fisher or Syracuse to play club hockey and softball. Her focus will be sports management. Izzy Friedman, Captain, will attend Hobart and William Smith College to play DIII hockey and major in biology. Izzy Battaglia, exciting as a goaltender, has played four years for MM and is off to the University of Buffalo or Penn State to play club hockey and softball while studying sports science. Emily Matthew is a three year player for MM and is planning to attend UMass, Boston University or Castleton in hopes of playing college hockey and major in history or computer science. Ava Tower, 4 years at MM, plans to play hockey or lacross at the U of Alabama, William Penn University of Chatham. She will major in psychology.
Williamsville (All Williamsville Schools)
Kylie Rosen, Williamsville North, Forward. Kylie played 4 years for Williamsville and intends to major in Special Education. She also played field hockey for Wm North. Elisabeth Sidorski, Williamsville South, Defense. Elisabeth is a six year player for Williamsville and sered as captain for two years. She will be playig field hockey for the University of Rochester and majorig in applied mathematics and computer science. Elisabeth is a three sport athlete also excelling in field hockey and lacross.
