ITHACA, N.Y. — The 60th season of hockey at Lynah Rink will be on prominent display this season, as six Cornell hockey games from the Big Red’s fabled home ice will be added to the ESPN3 schedule and simulcast from the Ivy League Digital Network for the 2016-17 season.
Three Big Red home games each for the women’s hockey and men’s hockey teams will be available to view for free on ESPN’s web-based platform. The slate starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 when the Big Red women’s team hosts Yale. The next game features the Cornell men’s team’s home opener against defending ECAC Hockey champion and 2016 national runnerup Quinnipiac at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18.
Two weeks later, both Big Red hockey teams will be featured in a doubleheader from Lynah Rink. The women’s team takes on Ivy League rival Harvard at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, then the men’s team plays host to Miami (Ohio) at 7 p.m. in a key non-league game. The women’s team’s third game on ESPN3 will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13 against 2016 NCAA tournament qualifier Princeton, then the men’s team will once again be featured at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 in a late-season regional rivalry game against Colgate.
It has also been announced that the Cornell men’s hockey team’s first three road games in ECAC Hockey will feature an identical simulcast between ESPN3 and ILDN — Nov. 4 at Dartmouth, Nov. 5 at Harvard and Nov. 11 at Brown.
Additional contests may be announced at a later date.
