ITHACA, N.Y. — Anthony Angello (Manlius, NY) has signed an entry-level contract with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, the team announced Thursday.

Angello had 36 goals and 34 assists for 70 points and a plus-31 rating over 102 games with the Big Red over the last three seasons. He was tied for the team lead in scoring this year with 26 points on 13 goals and 13 assists. Nine of those goals came in Cornell’s nine January games, which earned him the ECAC Hockey Player of the Month award. He was later earned second-team honors for both All-Ivy League and All-ECAC Hockey.

Angello, who will report to the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on an amateur tryout contract, was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins with the 145th pick in the fifth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He will attempt to become the 31st player from Cornell to reach the NHL.
